David Kershaw has over twenty years experience in the Medical Device sector, working on design, development, validation and regulation projects. Many of the development projects have resulted in a range of patents covering absorbent and anti microbial products, manufacturing processes and active devices. The experience in both developmental and regulatory environments has demonstrated the importance of development and regulation being closely linked during product realisation.
This practical experience is supported by degrees in Polymer Science from U.M.I.S.T, Process Technology and Management from the University of Strathclyde and a PhD in Reaction Kinetics from Coventry University.
He was made a Fellow of The Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining in 2009.
While working for Kershaw Technology Services David has worked on;
- Developmental and regulatory aspects of all classifications of devices.
- Gap analysis of regulatory procedures.
- Creation of procedures.
- Trouble shooting and validation of manufacturing processes,
- Development of business procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
David Kershaw provided regulatory advice and guidance at four “Meet the Expert” sessions organised by Trustech in 2013.
He also acts as a referee for the Journal of Wound Care and is a member of the Wellcome Trust Technology Transfer Expert Virtual Advisory Group.
